ecu programming S40-V40 2002

I spoke with some reps at Upsolute, the Volvo upgrade is $500, based on their risk of damaging your ECU. They also could not provide me with a graph of gain. I found this company to be helpful and prices consistent with their website:
You ship your ECU to them in MD, they return it within a couple days. Cost is $299 as of a month ago.
I am not associated with either company but am looking for more from my S40.
