If it hasn't been changed in 70K miles, it will be dirty. I change mine every year, about 8 - 11K miles. I do use dino with BG additive. I would say that it would be prudent to change it, and the brake fluid, power steering and anti-freeze also. Then at least you will know where everything is. If it shifts fairly good, then I wouldn't be too worried. I would check and see if the PNP switch has been replaced at one time. Most tranny symptoms usually can be attributed to that.. And you probably will be replacing it at some time...
