A few comments about this thread:
1) You're not going to do any better with speakers in this car than the factory-designed Dynaudio upgrade kit. See:
http://www.monmouth.com/~rothe/volvo-dynaudio.html
2) The compressed air solution sounds like a very reasonable one, given the coaxial design of the original rear-deck speakers. Absolutely try that first.
3) If replacement seems like the solution for you, I still have the OEM speakers, all in excellent condition, from before my own Dynaudio upgrade. E-mail me privately if interested. http://www.monmouth.com/~rothe/contactme.html
4) If you read the article I mentioned in #1, and you're crazy enough to go a similar route, I was talking to one of the managers at my local dealer about those Dynaudio kits, and he suggested that he could get me a discounted price so that I could resell them. I'm not talking about any bargains here, just a little less than your local dealer is likely to sell at. I'd probably sell them at $1215 for the S70 kit, and $950 for the V70 kit. No tax, but shipping is extra. The Volvo parts warranty still applies -- it's one year. Plan on replacing your head unit with something -- anything -- other than the SC-816. Again, contact info is: http://www.monmouth.com/~rothe/contactme.html
