So, what DO you buy?

I have an 88 760 turbo wagon ... great car. I've been thinking of a more winter minded Volvo since I live in upstate NY and I have a very steep driveway. Putting 4 Yoko snows on the 760 really helps but it will never be sure footed in slippery conditions. I got some good feedback on 960 and AWD problems so now I'm thinking ... why IS the Volvo to buy? Are the FWD's reliable? If so, what are good & bad years. What would be a good winter performer or should I just stay with my 760 ? Also, for a RWD, is there any good year for the 960?
