V40 break job spec. and instruction hepl...

Pad material minimum thickness (without the steel backing plate) is 2mm for both front and rear pads.

Replacing pads is not difficult. Just undo the top caliper bolt and swing it outward to access the pads (release any brake-hose clips first).

The only thing to remember is that the rear pistons must be both pushed and screwed back in a clockwise direction. Tools are available for that purpose. The front piston can be pushed back normally.

Brake pads in my experience last around 25K miles at the back and around 30 to 35K miles at the front.

You will need new rotors every 2nd or 3rd pad change, depending on the wear rate and remaining thickness of the rotor.

Minimum thickness of the front rotor during a pad change is 22.1mm and for the rear rotors it's 8.9mm.

Bye, Arno.
