Yes, you can eliminate it, and all of the hydraulic brakes as well.

If you're confidant that you can always have enough room to stop in from on you, then downshifting and using the parking brake will stop the car eventually...

Preventative maintenace is no substitute for preventative system amputation. Congratulations on seeing the light.
