Factory Alarm 850 1996

I have a 97 850 GLT, and whenever I lock the door with the remote (thus engaging the alarm system) my headlights and tailights blink once. I'm pretty new to the car, so I'm still learning about it, but I believe that the alarm I have is a factory installed alarm.
