Whistling when cold 850

Have you checked the serpentine belt? It could well be loose and slipping as it tries to recharge the battery after the effort taken to start the engine when cold. Also, the battery could be getting "old" and loosing some of it's charge overnight due to the extreem cold. Just some food for thought.
