It is a frequent failure mode that certain electrical components operate well at one temperature, but not at another temperature. When troubleshooting electric components, it is common for a technician to have handy, a can of Freon (actually, an environmentally friendly substitute) and "shoot" components to cool them down. Frequently, when one does this, the component starts working, then stops working when the component warms back up. The opposite condition is suggested in eric855's circumstance, but it is certainly a reasonable possibility, especially considering the coil.
