850 check engine light and upshift light 850 1996

This happened to me a week ago or so. Mr PNP switch was bad (my reverse light worked sporadically during this time)and the FLASHING ARROW & CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on. After replacing the PNP I still had the check enging light so I took it a mechanic who has the volvo scan tool. Codes showed I needed a RPM sensor also. Good luck
