Balljoint or 'A' arm... 850 1994

Thanks for noticing that Russ... I had actually already checked on that before I ordered any parts. I have one of the early ones from 94, and have the older style.

I ordered the part from FCPGroton, down in Groton, CT. I called up to ask if the balljoint came with new nuts, the Haynes manual suggests new ones be used during replacement, and the guy asked for my VIN to determine the chassis number. Anything after a certain number, you can find it on their website... fcpgroton.com, will have the newer style.

The guy was funny about it, he actually said "You are one of the lucky ones."

I assumed he meant lucky because 1. The balljoint was only $16, as opposed to $75 for the new style whole control-arm. and 2. It's a heck of a lot easier to replace just the balljoint than the whole control arm.

Anybody know why Volvo ditched the old style, 2 piece system. Seems better to me... at least more convenient and cheaper to replace.

Shopping around for an alignment from somebody nearer to me... I live in Rockland, Ma. Spencer isn't so close, but thanks.
