Something like 3M-FinesseIt II used with a random orbit buffer would probably take out the scratch, or at least make it much less noticable. Do not go to the store and buy generic "rubbing compound" unless you really want to mess things up. Best bet for you, since you didnt even know what to do, would be to take it to a local automotive detailer. My guess is that it wouldnt cost much at all, or take long, for them to buff it out.
