ebay/online car purchase..feedback request..considerations?

A guy in the office bought a $40K Mercedes through ebay, without even inspecting it. He was very pleased with the purchase and said that he got it for about $5K below wholesale. It was delivered from Canada directly to his home. The company that he bought it from said that make many of their sales this way. Apparently they were doing executive leases and reselling the cars when they came off lease.
