this is true, I removed my flame trap today, and just replaced the hose and O-ring. I removed it upon the advice of a moderator on Volvospeed's board, who basically just said to make sure the O-ring is still good, clean the housing and hose, and remove the flame trap. Mine was all full of gunk, only the top half of holes were open, so I trashed it and cleaned its housing (I used a few q-tips to clean out all the oil gunk it the tube and connector). The car runs great, after all Volvo did away with the flame trap after 1997. So yeah, now I'll have less pressure in the lines, making me and the seals breathe a sigh of relief...
