Fuel Pump Relay 850

im a little confused how a fuel pump relay could cause a rough idle. would you elaborate, i have never replaced a fuel pump relay on a 850 or s or v 70, i have replaced many on 240 and 740,but i didnt know about a problem on front drive cars?
