For the money: Audi A4, A6; Volvo older than 1998; Volkswagen Passat.

Every car company has its woes; most do a good job. Do your homework. You might want to ask drivers on the street their opinion. Most will oblige. I've done this and it is amazing what people will tell you about their cars. People love to talk about their stuff.
