I don't care what anyone here says but as I said before, your car not only isn't true OBD2 like a '96 850 is BUT you don't need it.
You do NOT need to buy or make anything to read fault codes on your car. Why waste money?

That site also has a list of all the fault codes you'll need too so you shouldn't need to go further.
The ONLY reason why you might want any type of scanner would be if you wanted to monitor the system with the engine running but unless you know what all the specs should be and can determine what's normal, what's not, that info won't do the average person much good.
