2001 V70 Throttle Response V70-XC70

From your email posts, I would guess you have an automatic? I have found the same problem. I'm guessing it is designed this way.

I have a 2001 V70 T5 auto. There isn't much power until the tach hits ~2500 RPM. I presume this is when the turbo boost kicks in on the T5 (BTW, this maybe different for your 2.4T. The T5 is a 2.3L and has high pressure boost) The problem with the 5 speed auto mated with the T5 is that all shift points are before 2500RPM. Maybe the kickdown mechanism will push into lower gears if you punch the gas but it is definitely not for everyday liesurly city driving.

I see a lot of Volvo enthusiasts with Manual V70 T5s. Driver selected shift points are probably the best "solution".

A "solution" I have found is using the manual shift mode on the tiptronic auto transmission (if you have this option). Think of it as manual without clutch. I have found it tricky getting used to even though I know how to drive a stick. I usually don't use it unless on inclines where the automatic transmission doesn't give the engine a chance.

I have seen tiptronic transmission program upgrades but haven't seen one for the Volvo. Just looked at the GIAC's Volvo site. It is under construction.
