Buying Help V70-XC70

I have recently become infatuated with 850R and V70R Volvos.

I'm trying to find out which is a better buy- a 96-97 850R, or a 98-99 V70R?

Research is one thing, but first hand accounts are another.

I'm basically concerned about finding the best bang for the buck, and am unclear as to which is more reliable.

Any and all help is appreciated!
