I have an '94 850 with 220,000 kms on it. I can drive from Regina to Calgary (about 700+ kms) on one tank of gas if I don't pass anyone and stay at highway speed. With this driving style, it results in about 9 litres/100km. Now for reality, I drive a lot faster and for the non-divided part of the highway, I like to keep passing time to a minimum. When I pass, the computer can't register that much gas going into the engine; it maxes out at 50l/100km. That is about 2 kms per litre of gas. With a very agressive driving style, I will frequently see an average of about 11-12 l/100km.
I think a fair comparison is that 10l/1100km is roughly 30 mpg (imperial), but that is a rough estimate. I don't think the metric versus imperial thing means much as I really like switching the computer to 'remaining kilometers' mode. I am still amazed at how accurate it is.
