Hi ya,
Unfortunately thats true 96's seem to have aporblem from what i have read too.
Have you no codes at all to pull ? I would go around and disconnect and clean up all contracts and reseat them as a first past. Cleaning out the knuckles where the ABS sensors live is a good start to stop tripping any coes there.
Before removing hte Module to clean its contract but reseat it. Then see if your abs light shows. Last year i had my pedeal sensor fail intermittently and that kept throwing up codes when the engine compartment was hot. I cleared the codes several times and in the end i replaced and it all worked.
Try if you can to post some codes, if not it could be signs of a faulty unit :)
