So when the freon is low below 20 psi's the swith turns off the compressor. So what happens if you have to much freon, say 45 psi's, does the compressor also turn off?

I checked my levels, car running, i'm about about 35-42 psi's. One more questoin, how do you bring the level down? Would it be like a tire you just let freon out or is there something special you have to do?
