Interested in buying an S40, What should I avoid and be aware of? S40-V40

My V40 00 has 45K miles now. I have replaced rear brake pads at 25K, front at 42K. Seems like the pads reach a point and then get stuck, causing them to fail. I had 2 headlights fail around 20K, a factory mod was done and no further fails. I had a bad thermostadt, fuel regulator and window motor. Otherwise its been a great vehicle. Great in the snow in Vermont. I get about 30mpg in summer, with mixed driving, no interstate, avg about 33 mph.
I have gotten 35mpg on highway. Its a great car to drive. Especially after using the dealers loaners, 850,s, 940's etc.
