How do I delete the 'regular maintenance message' V70-XC70 2003

I asked Volvo that for my 2002 V70. They said it requires the computer to be reset, and that the dealer would need to do that with a special peice of gear. The closest dealer to me wants $45 to do that. It goes out after 5 minutes. and I would think at some point an aftermarket "resetter" will become available, like for BMW's.
