Steve,
I almost bought the kit 6000k from www.hid-online.com but I didn't. I found another place which cost less - $455 verus $5xx. The kit that I got is very similar to the one from hid-online.com. Both of them get power from battery rather than from the headlight harness. Headlight harness is to control the relay to turn on/off the HID light. Some kit comes with 2 relay: one for each ballast. Mine comes with 1 relay for both ballasts. My kit comes with 1 year warranty. The replacement D2 bulb after warranty expired is about $250. Another company listed in Bay13 - hid4less.com also cost a lot : $5xx but with 5 years warranty.
The only concern that I have is that the bulb out light might comes up after installing the HID kit. It is because now both headlight harness are drawing much less current than before. I am not sure how Volvo design the bulb out detection circuit - comparing current between left/right headlight harness OR comparing total current with a preset value. I am looking for a way to disable the bulb out indication for the headlight.
Also, we may have to adjust the headlight after the HID installation to reduce the glare. Our headlight housings were not design for HID bulb - too bright when comparing with halogen bulbs.
