Rob,

I was in the same position (5 spd too!); an art student buying a wagon for hauling stuff, not kids. I thought first about selling the unit on eBay, but there's not much of a market. Instead, I simply took the seat portion off of the panels. It essentially snaps out. Leave the belts. You'll get back the room for wrench sets and first aid kits.
