Transmission S80 1999

I have a 99 S80T6 with transmission problems, is this usual? The transmission shop says major problems, Volvo dealership claims their computer cannot find the message, transmission shop may have wiped out code. Also my radiator, plastic, is leaking and requires an expensive replacement repair. Should I get rid of the S80?
