Should I try a Volvo? V70-XC70 1998

Dear Folks,
It's time for a newer car and being a big fan of watercooled VW's It's hard to get away from european makes. I've considersd Audi wagons but have read some terrible owner reveiws overall. I'm going into Salt Lake tommorrow to look at a 1998 V70 T5 wagon for $13,000 w/108,000 miles on it by a private seller. Is this a good choice? Is there any thing I should be concerned about or watch out for? I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade and maintain the VW and my motorcycles myself and notice that alot of you do a considerable amount of maintenance and service yourself. ANY input would be greatly appreciated, and I sincerly thank you all in advance. Jon, Ogden Utah
