time for new battery S40-V40

We had trouble starting the S40 for the first time in 4 years this morning. It cranked, but didn't start. I think it needs a new battery. Does 4 years sound about right for a new battery? We use the car daily. Does the S40 need any special kind of battery or special considerations during installation, or can I just go to the local Kragen and buy a battery?
