This is a common failure. There is about a 10% chance that the electrical connector on the back of the mirror has come loose, and about a 90% chance that the heating element has just failed.
Operate the position control to swing the mirror to its farthest outboard view. You may be able to now see if the connector is off. If it is, use needle nose pliars to reattach it. If the connector is OK, you need to remove the mirror from its housing. Grab the inboard edge of the glass and *pull* firmly. It simply snaps off a center hub. Buy a replacement mirror and snap it back on.
