00 XC Multiple Engine Failures V70-XC70 2000

On my 1999 V70 T5M (FWD), both the mass air meter and the ETS have failed (within 45,000 miles of new). An acquaintace of mine is a parts man at a Volvo dealer, and he was able to rattle off the part number for the ETS from memory. They are so bad that he knows the part number by heart. The part alone costs around $500 (maybe $375 from Brentwood Volvo or one of the other discounters). I don't think they have redesigned or improved the part, so it will probably fail again.
As far as I know, the ABS module is not a problem on 1999 and later cars.
