loose wiper 850

I just bought a used 1995 850. Runs great, but the driver side windshiled wiper
loosens up a lot. There seems to be only a hex nut holding it in place on the
shaft.I'm sure the threads will strip soon. Should there be a key or spline arrangment to hold it in place? Thanks, Larry
