How did this happen???? 850 1993

Did you hear any noise before the failure?

I've heard of the tensioner for the serpentine belt failing and the serpentine belt then taking out the flimsy timing belt cover and the timing belt itself. Besides the TB, other possible modes of failure are the timing belt tensioner, the idler pulley and the water pump.

This is why I like timing chains!
