Reading from A-2 (Montronic 4.3) in my Haynes Manual,

fault code 143 indicates 'front knock sensor signal absent or faulty',

fault code 231 indicates 'long term fuel mixture too weak or too rich in part load stage' and

fault code 325 indicates 'ECU memory loss'.

Lucky for me, I have never run into these codes.
