What does TRACS actually DO? Well, really not much IMO and that's after 132,000 miles. It supposedly works like a limited-slip differential. I brought the car back to my dealer early in it's life because I couldn't believe it was working. It WAS!
From the Volvo Press Release for my year (1998): "Additional traction may be gained with Volvo's Traction Control System, TRACS. TRACS is a low-speed system that operates through feedback from the anti-lock brake system (ABS) to control front wheelspin at speeds less than 25 mph. TRACS is part of Volvo’s Cold Weather package which is optional on all S70 and V70s and standard on all AWD offerings."
The seat heaters that were part of ths same "Cold Weather Package" are nice. The headlight washers are equally useless IMO.
