ABS pulses individual brakes OFF to keep wheels from locking up during braking.

TRAC turns that system on its head and pulses a caliper ON to reduce spin in the driven wheels when you're accelerating on slickery stuff.

Agree w/ S. Jack that it's not all that effective, but it does help.
