It is most likely the following is not the same situation as yours, but I want to share this story of a friend of mine...
My buddy called me the other day, he started up his Toyota Corolla which had been parked outside for a few days. Upon leaving his driveway, he found that the throttle would not let up, revs would not go lower than 4000 rpm.
He went back home, opened the hood. Upon examination of the engine area, he found that mice had chewed into his air intake box. They chewed up the air filter material to make a nest. Apparently they took a walk through the intake tube (or got sucked in) and two dead mice were found stuck in his throttle body.
That made for an interesting morning.
