As for Ford..... 2001

It's still not a fault of Fords ownership.
850 blower motors freeze up in cold weather too and those cars were built long before Ford owned Volvo. Either way, it's a poor design and/or poor quality part and Volvo's not the first to have blower motor problems.
Actually, older RWD Volvos had blower motor problems too so Volvo has never been great with those.
I've replaced several blower motors in my 745 but fortuntely that's just a 70's type GM blower motor and I can now buy a new one for $12 with a lifetime warranty.
