my roof trim is doing the same thing, peeling.... where did you get your spray, any auto parts store? when you said you removed them carefully, is there a secret to it... Also, how did you get them back on, with glue, or something else. I want to do that to mine but was a little afraid of how to do it. Did you find instructions on the web?
