Thermostat Changed 850 1996

I have a hypothesis on the 3 o'clock thing based on my experience with other cars (right now I am lurking on this board in anticipation of buying an 850).

Here's the hypothesis: many newer cars' temp gauges are not really gauges. They just indicate whether the temp is low, OK, or high....almost like an "idiot light"...so as long as the temp is within an acceptable range, the gauge will read the same...
