History of ETS failure? S60 2001

After reading more past posts (and George's post above) I did some contemplation into my car's problems. Turning the clock back, here is a run-down of my problems:
*Summer 2002--cruise control failed three times. Dealer claimed that the computer codes didn't match up, so they installed the "wrong" codes to get the car to run.
*October 2003--car wouldn't start--new fuel pump, starter, reset the key chip--bottom line: they couldn't seem to diagnose the problem
*January 2004--car RPMs increase but no accleration--replaced fuel pump (I thought this was odd since I got a new fuel pump in October)
*January 2004--at highway speed the car stalled--thought I had frozen water in the the fuel system (it was -10 degrees) and added Heet and the car started and thought nothing further
*February 2004--car stalls out again at highway speed. Again thankful for guardian angels to guide me to shoulder. Started on second try. Ten miles later, same thing occured, but car woudn't start. Towed in and the dealer diagnosed faulty throttle module. Of course they had the part in stock and was fixed within the day. To add insult to injury the dealer's hard drive "fried" (his words, not mine) and couldn't download software. So, here I sit without a car.

Are all of these problems (cruise control, not starting, increasing RPMs, stalling out at highway speed (three times!)) all affiliated with the ETS? I'm no car-genius, but all seems a bit fishy. Do I have a case here of repeated mis-diagnoses? Do dealers know about this problem and don't fix it, thus putting lives in peril (with stalls at highway speed)?

Note: there is no ETS indicator light on my 01 S60, so I had absolutely no warning of the problems to come.

Thanks for reading all my rants and for your advice!
JM
