2000 S80 Transmission S80 2000

The dealer said that the whining sounds I hear are coming from the transmission. I had another mechanic (who specializes in European) say the same thing. The car still runs fine, but the whine is getting a little worse. I thought it might also be the axle or driveshaft, but we were able to rule that out.

To your other question, the tach bounces between 750 and about 350 at idle. It's either the throttle or the master air flow. Dealer shop says it's the throttle, but I don't have much confidence in my local dealer at all.
