There actually is two speeds to the fan. It's controlled by high or low voltage to the fan motor, controlled by the fan relay. Sounds like maybe the relay is starting to crap out and mixing up the signals or a bad temperature sensor on the motor sending high heat signals to the ECU which in turn sends a signal to the fan relay to run the radiator fan at high speed. The relay is located there at the top of the radiator just above the fan. The engine temp sensor is located on the motor there by the thermostat. Try unplugging the temperature sensor the next time the car comes home and the fan stays running. If it stops running then the temp sensor is bad (assuming the motor is below 200 degrees and needs no fan help...).
