where is evap purge valve ? V70-XC70 1998

when you say left/right, is this while looking into the engine compartment while standing in front of vehicle ? in other words, the cabin filter is
in front of the windshield on the driver's side ?

the black box I'm talking about is just behind the headlights on the passenger
side .. above the washer fluid rez. (I thought the engine air intake & filter were on the driver's side, behind the battery).
