I prefer the rusty trusty 240 wagon...but your speed sensor is on the upper bottom left side of the transmission, two wires going to it. This doesn't usually cause a shifting problem though...if the pnp switch hasn't been done...it is suspect...other than that...check your transmission fluid...if it is dirty, smelly, low, etc...if your transmission is original...say a couple of mantras to the Volvo gods.
