Here in the UK I've used Pirelli P Zeros tto good effect... they stick like brown stuff to a blanket wet or dry and generally last better than P6000s. I've used Michelin Pilot SXs too (on an Audi S3) but am not impressed by them (or any other Michelin as they seem to slide a bit more in the wet and last no better (in my experience and driving style) than the Pirellis. I've also had good experience of Falken tyres. I've heard a lot of good thngs from other people about Toyo Proxes tyres too (but they are very prone to wear apparently). I've also used Goodyear F1s and they seemed quite good too. Volvo in the UK recommend Pirellis (or so I was informed by my dealer) and I've never had a bad experience of Pirellis on any car.
One thng I won't compromise on is tyres as they are the only thing between you and a crash.... the best brakes in the world are no good if the tyres are rubbish.
