Synthetic Oil

By all means use synthetic. Sure, it may cost you an extra $20 per year, but it reduces engine wear, gives far greater protection (expecially in case there might be a mechanical problem), runs cooler, starts easier in cold weather, and might even give a bit better fuel economy (or performance).

compared to the cost of a new engine, there isn't a question.

Sure, I'm biased. I've been using (and selling) AMSOIL synthetics for over 25 years.
