Using non-synthetic?
As a practical matter, changing just what is in the pan every 15,000 miles will probably keep it going a long time. Maybe do a flush every 2nd or third time.

Using a good synthetic?
Changing what is in the pan every 25-30,000 miles would probably be fine for the life of the car.
