I have a 2000 S40 1.9 Turbo for 4 years and 5 months with 41000 miles on it. The "Check Engine" light went on yesterday, the car seem to be vibrating and not going as I stepped on the gas so I bought it to the dealer to check what's wrong. I received the repair list today as below:
1. Replacement of #3 ignition coil (was told #3 cylinder is broken by the rep)
2. Replacement of serpentine belt
3. Replacement of right/side motor mount
4. replacement of upper radiator hose and thermostat
Total cost is $900 + tax.
I asked a few people it seem ridiculous that I'm having engine problem so soon consider it is still a relative new car. Most said those parts should last at least 60000 miles+ and if there are problems with those parts it is more like a manufacture defect rather than from human errors. The car was in for 35000 miles service in November and no one told me these parts are wearing out.
Anyone has similar problems? What are the lifespan for these parts? Should I call myself bad luck or should I complain to Volvo?
Thanks.
