I've probably got your car's hard-livin' cousin -- '95 855T that went low on maintenance for five or more years before I bought it -- and it's still running the original engine, trans, and turbo at 196k. If you keep the car long enough and drive it enough, you'll probably have to drop some serious cash into it sometime, but you CAN reduce the likelihood of that with proper maintenance and careful driving.
Read the board for precautions to take, symptoms to watch for, and fixes to some of the problems you may encounter. But don't fret and think you have to bail on a car you enjoy. Make sure you swap the oil and other vital fluids, get a pollen filter or change the one you have, and watch the wear on safety-critical parts. You'll be fine. And if something does fail, you'll know where to look for sympathy and advice ;).
